Deception Full

Another full. She's a more minor character for now but I'd like to see her become more. She's changed a lot from her original design and characterization. Here's Calliope Pacificus, or Cal.

A Tangled Christmas

Here's a quick comic I made today after sketching pictures of these two in ugly sweaters. It's nothing special since I'm swamped with things to do for the holidays. But here you go!

And here's the last picture to share!

Self portrait

I'm too lazy to actually work on this. Who knows, maybe I will. Lately I just like my sketches. But here's a new portrait of me. I try to do these every year around my birthday. For once I think I got my body type down right.

This is what happens when I get excited for HTTYD 2. BUT THAT TRAILER!

More Deception

Normally I'm pretty secretive about what I draw and such for my stories but since it's been so long since I've given anything related to this story I'm trying to share more. It also helps in the revisions to draw the characters so I can flesh them out. Here are some random sketches today.

Wiatt always gives sound advice.
icky sketch from a scene in chapter ten
I love designing uniforms but for some reason never get around to describing them or really emphasizing them. Here is Wiatt and Cal modeling the uniforms.
I'm the laziest artist on the planet. But I feel like if I spend too much time on my artwork I'm taking away time that should be spent writing. So I stick to sketches and such. Maybe one day that'll change.

My hand slipped.
*10 minute sketch*

Then it slipped again.
*4 minute sketch*

I had a conversation last night about The Hobbit and we ended up talking about his hair. This is the result.

Steampunk Sketches

Here are some characters from a Steampunk. It's not all of them and it's nothing special, but I really like these. They're actually drawings from two years ago I redid on Sai.

Deception 2.0

Deception was the first story I ever wrote and finished all the way. I thought it was pretty solid when I was seventeen and now I laugh at all the horrible cliches and such. But recently I decided to try rewriting it and seeing if I could write it better now that I've had some experience. The best part about rewriting it (besides seeing how I've improved) is I get to revisit some of my favorite characters. Here are some sketches of the ladies of Deception.
Quick sketch busts because I'm too lazy to color. And I really like how the sketches came out. I'm trying to show variation in facial structure and such while also fitting the character.

Deception has a lot of action and fighting, especially among the girls. So here are Gwen and Aubrette ready for a fight.

And I've never done a character lineup (successfully) so I'm planning to do so with this story. I want to do so with every story and every cast but that's unlikely to happen. Until then, here are Gwen and Aubrette ready for the lineup.

A Kingdom of Isolation and It Looks Like I'm The Queen

I'm so excited to see Frozen! I've been listening to the album nonstop. And I've been doodling Elsa's profile a lot (which is great practice too. She's hard!). So here's a little sketch. I've had an art block all month and today just experimented with the brush tool in Sai.

30 Day Monster Girl: Zombie

"Look honey I made your favorite, roast brain!"

She's the perfect undead housewife. Okay I've been bad and stopped these for a while but I've been busy. So I'm going to try to finish. Next: Insect Girl!

Concept Sketch

I know I've said it before, but I love being able to sketch out ideas for writing. Here's a quick sketch. Sadly, I can't show all of my pieces for ideas, but I don't mind sharing a few. Just a quickie! I need to get back to those Monster Girls...

Snow Child

My internet was off for a few days which was great for drawing. I was able to get a ton of drawings done (mostly quick sketches before work). Here's Eira, a snow child from a story I'm working on. I had fun doing this style too. :)

Peter Jenkins

"Yes crazy girl. I'm Peter. Wooh. Yaay. You won the big prize. Now get out of my property before I call the police."

Let's draw with thin lines, okay? I just finished the manuscript for this character a few weeks ago. It was a little twist on Peter Pan and very fun to work on. Anyway, I drew out the characters and based the style off of a piece I saw online with a similar style, thin lines and bold color. I'm thinking of doing that for my November art challenge. Who knows. Here's the first character. I love his freckles.

Black and White Lana

I'm actually not really a fan of Lana Del Rey save the one song she did for The Great Gatsby. But I saw this picture and thought it'd look cool like this. And it took quite some time, but I'm happy with it.

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: True Monster

The real monster in this world is silence.

I'm way behind on these but I've been swamped with school work and work work. But I'm not giving up! I will finish this series, and continue with my art challenge. Anyway, I've been wanting to write a story set in Nazi Germany so here's a piece inspired by that thought. Next: Zombie

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Succubus

All girls seem innocent at first.

Oh punch line, you scoundrel you. I'm caught up! Not crazy about this one, but I do love her outfit. 50s sleepwear was pretty sexy. I can't handle it. I'm glad I got through those two though, seeing as I had a hard time with them. Next: True Monster.

30 Day Monster Girl: Demon

Who knew bad could look so cute.

Okay I'm a day late. I had an insane day yesterday with work and surprise visits from friends though. And I had a hard time drawing this one. I'm not forward to drawing the next one either (which I'll get done next). But here it is! Next: Succubus!

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Octomaid

He thinks her attention is solely on him. Silly boy.

Day 8! Are you tired of these? I'm not. It's fun to take a word and try to interpret it my own way. But I want to post up something besides monster girls. So I'll see what I can do. Next: Demon

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Plant Girl

Business has been pretty slow. I wonder why...

I've been wanting to do this one ever since I first found out about the challenge. I still have a few ideas of poses and such. Very fun to draw! And I'm all caught up. Next: Octomaid

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Spider Girl

She's the kind of girl your parents warned you about.

And we have our last one for the day! Fun fact: I'm terrified of spiders. No really. Terrified. So here's a black widow spider girl with a new victim in her clutches. I'll be honest, I may hate spiders, but I sure do love this piece. Yay! I'm all caught up! Next: Plant girl!

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Mermaid

And today's catch of the day is...

Yes! One more to go then I'm all caught up! This one is a mermaid. I'm not crazy about it, but I like the concept of the drawing. Lots of blues. Next: Spider Girl. Oi...

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Naga

Sun bathing.

I'm trying to catch up but Conference has been so wonderful and I've been tired and busy writing in my journal. Still, I got this babe out. Fun fact: snakes like to lie in the sun so I drew her doing just that. I was inspired by diamond back snakes. Here's hoping I get more done today so I'm all caught up! Next: Mermaid!

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Slime

Well this was a hard one, but here's the next one. Hopefully today I can look into catching up and getting to number six. Next one: Naga.

Moxie Girl

I swear these art challenge pictures are harder than they seem. Especially this one. That background was a trial. But anyway, here's Moxie Girl! If I was a designer my label would be called Moxie. And it would be vintage inspired clothes. Her head is big and I'm not in love with the proportions but this was pretty fun, and the products are really cool. Check it out:
You can find more at my store.

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge: Centaur

I don't have much time so I'll have to come back later and finish but this is the backgroundless simple color design of the Centaur girl. I had a hard time with this one. Not very 50s pin up but it does have a bit of a pin up feel.

Love, Jack

I had this idea for a little short story about a girl who is sent to live with a mysterious man she never sees. And wellah! It turns out he has a pumpkin for a head. And he's cursed and blah blah blah it's not beauty and the beast I swear. But anyway, here's a fun drawing!

30 Day Monster Girl Challenge - Harpy

Seeing as it's October and I've always wanted to do this, I've decided to try out the 30 Day Monster Girl Challenge. Not sure if I like it with the background or not. I was planning on doing pin up style work but I didn't want to do the coloring in pin up style. I kind of like it done this way. It fits my art goal for October anyway.

Next: Centaur

Native Darkness

A sketch that had a mind of its own. Might make it a print.
