Happy New Years (Take Two)!!

As I stated before, my family wanted a New Years card to send out from us. I figured they wouldn't want to send out a romantic Tangled card so here it is! And this was the original color scheme (though the textures changed the colors a bit). These colors feel so art deco. It's probably because I'm obsessed with the 20s right now.

Anyway, Happy New Year!!

Happy New Years!

My tablet chord has been missing all month, which is a real shame as I had several sketches done for Christmas cards. So here's a New Years card that actually hints to my New Years resolution (which is not about dating or romance btw). I have to make a second one from my family but for now here's this one. I'm a big Tangled fan, okay? And yes, I had a Christmas card ready for them too.

Fun fact: Original the color scheme was totally different. These colors were used in the sketches and I just thought they were so much more fun. I'm using the original color scheme for the other new years picture. Happy New Years!

Quirky Girl

One of my biggest pet peeves is how quirky girls are always portrayed as being skinny.
I don't get it.
Why aren't there ever curvy quirky girls? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with a quirky girl being skinny. I'm saying we need a little more variety. Anyway, this was just a concept piece for a character. I'm not sure if this will be her final look as I have quite a few ideas on her looks. I do want her to be a size 13 though. I can just tell you that much.

This Is My Design

I've been thinking about having a store separate from my current store that centers on fan art and fandom based products. That way I don't have Hannibal pictures mixed in with girls in vintage dresses eating ice cream or something. Speaking of Hannibal, I'm obsessed ever since I binge watched the first season. And seeing as I have no way of watching season two yet, here's Will Graham.

It's best viewed close up. That's not texture. I did it by hand. MERCY. My poor hand...

This is what I was working on while ignoring my word count....

I make it a personal rule to try not to share any pictures of characters in romantic situations because I don't want to hint as to what's going to happen and also because when it's a love triangle it's hard to cater to both sides of readers. That being said, I don't oft share pictures of these two but thought this was harmless enough.

I was pretty lazy with this piece. Oh well. It's really about the colors here.

Josephine Outfits

There are few things I love to draw more than outfits.

Actually I think that is my hands down favorite thing to draw.

Anyway here are two concept pieces of outfits Josephine wears in the story. Her colors are so different from the others, but it suits her more subdued but feminine personality. I had a ton of fun with these.

French Silk

French Silk is my hands down favorite pie. So naturally I had to draw a pie girl for French Silk. Not sure what will be next but these are just too fun.

"[The] fire [danced] on her skin. She was radiant." -Ice Princess
And last but not least, our main character. Sibyl is either super easy or ridiculously hard to draw. But I've drawn her so many times that at this point she kind of comes naturally to me. Her eyes and nose are still a bit of a pain though. There's a model that to this day I still see as Sibyl. I'm not sure why. She's just exact to how I imagine her. But well, my style of drawing probably doesn't give an exact replica of said model anyway.

Well here they are! How about some side by side comparisons? Line up time!

A line up of white people.

Sibyl blinked. Her mouth opened and her eyebrows lowered. “Wait, you two know each other?”
The girl gave her a mirror image of Reeve's crooked smile. “You could say that.” -Ice Princess
I never really draw Eileen but it's kind of fun because she's literally the female Reeve. She has the same features, just feminine and younger. Anyway, here's Eileen. I really should draw her more. Maybe I'll do a sibling pic with Eileen, Josephine, and Reeve. The next will be the last one, so help me, and it'll be Sibyl. Of course.

"Next to him was the prettiest girl in all of Montana. Golden brown waves fell over her shoulders and framed a soft round face. Her thin lips smiled, lighting up the world." -Ice Princess
Josephine might be the easiest to draw. and I love drawing her hair. She just likes to be drawn. I guess it's because she has such simple facial features. I modeled her after a model whom I can't remember the name of. But, she took on her own features and doesn't need references to be drawn (with a few exceptions). Anyway, to continue this series of busts here's Josephine. I wasn't planning on doing the girls but well... Why not?

I wanted to switch the picture horizontally so she would be looking in the opposite direction of Reeve, but instead I made Eileen look the opposite way. Here's the piece with brown lineart. I do these with color linearts then change them when I'm done the shading. I liked this one.

"He was the kind of man who's laugh made girls swoon with a sort of laziness in his eyes that gave him a far off dreamy look." - Ice Princess

The hands down hardest character to draw. My goodness... I've maybe had three different variations of this drawing. I'm quite fond of this one aside from facial structure problems. But I finally got an Alexander piece done! Also, I'm considering changing his name. And I know he's supposed to have gray eyes but I wanted to draw him with puppy dog brown eyes. He looks a bit smug here too, which isn't like Alexander at all.

Alexander wins the best hair award.

And for the heck of it, here's a WIP of Sibyl and Josephine. Might as well, right?

Baby It's Cold Outside

There's another part to this sketch with Reeve but I didn't like it. Anyway, here's Sibyl for you.

Pretty Things

I sketches this randomly one day and then recently decided to turn it into a print. And I'm kind of in love. What is wrong with me?

Hot Chocolate Dreamings

I've been in the mood for hot chocolate as of late.

Let's Hear It For the Boys!

Internet! At last! Here are some long awaited pieces of the men of Deception. And a full cast (well full so far...) line up. Man am I glad to finally post these up.

Fun fact: Wiatt's bust was done months ago.

Full bodies
(Blase's was done months ago too)

Sketches (Wiatt's was done months ago):

And our full cast:

This is a redo of an old piece. It is to this day my favorite drawing of this character. I can't quite get her like I did here. The second has texture. I'm never sure if I prefer the texture or not.

Lavender Print

This print was for a commission for something monogrammed (a general print and then an iPhone case). I've never made a pattern before so this was a welcome challenge and super fun. I loved it so much I put it in the shop then started sharing it with others. I want to make more spring prints. I just love spring. :)

Bubble Girl

I did these for fun and mostly because I wanted to draw a tulle skirt. Those flowers took the longest, but after finishing it felt like the background was too busy. But since I took so long on them I kept it and saved a copy without the flowers.

This is meant to celebrate spring. It was inspired by these flowers bushes I pass on my walk to church every Sunday and those in my backyard. I want to draw so many spring pictures.

Sketches and Such

Half of these are warm up sketches and the others are samples for commissions. Birds are fun to draw. :)

Hair Hair Hair

I've been having a hard time picking a hair color for this character. I want it to be an unnatural color but not something cliche. And it has to go with her eyes and personality. Let's just say this hasn't been easy.

My problem with the natural colors like black and brown is that they aren't strange enough. She's supposed to come in and not seem to be from anywhere. I want people to see her and think, "There's no way any of that is natural." I do think the blonde is cool. My problem with the pink is that it seems to Lightning from Final Fantasy even though it looks great with her complexion. Then there's turquoise which is iffy depending on how it works with the eye color.

So I'm just stuck. I'm going to keep staring at these until I come to a decision.
