Busts WIP

Here are some busts I've been working on. If you haven't figured out by now I love drawing these characters, or really for this story. Anyway they're going to have a frame around them and I might not keep the texture. Who knows. For now here are the WIPS.

I think I'm just doing the girls from this story for the busts. I did do portraits of the guys but I don't know if I'll do all the guys, or even the rest of the girls for these. In truth I'd like to have these on a tote bag of some sort, or have it as goodies to give away. Who knows.

Let's Hear It For The Boys

Boring Layout Stuff

Sorry, this isn't very interesting, but since it goes into what I do (writing if you're wondering) I figured it was worth sharing. There was some confusion over the layout of one character's room since it has a balcony on the inside. I happen to have something similar with my own room (mere coincidence. I got this room years after first writing this piece) so I sketched out some layout pieces. If you're a writer and artist or working on a big project I recommend working on these. I try not to put too much emphasis on perspective and to just get the basics down. One day I'll draw out the landscapes in detail.

Anyway, here are the layouts for the one character's room.

I had to resize her after finishing the lineart which was aggravating since Sai isn't the best program for that. But here it is! FINALLY.

I'm a lazy artist so there's a lazy background.

This is a sketch of Jeremy Sumpter I did a few years back. I remember being really upset with it because the eyes just weren't right. Anyway, it was practice on drawing males and it's no half bad for a sketch.

Note: This is not how I draw portraits. I'm quite proficient at portraits. I just lack the patience. This is just a sketch for the purpose of getting a feel for the contours of his face for future reference.

Dead Flowers

Piece done for the heck of it. I just liked the sketch and went with it. Without a background:
I've been trying to find a new piece to make my facebook cover photo. I think this is a winner. Might do another part. And also might put it in the store.

Ice Butterflies

“Once upon a time there was a princess of ice who loved butterflies,” Josephine said behind her. “One day she made a deal with the butterflies. If they visited her in her cold castle she'd protect them.”

“And thus the ice butterflies were born,” Xavier continued.

Still have no idea what to do for backgrounds. But here are two pieces I'm considering putting in the shop. The lines up above are from my original story Ice Princess.

Quick Sketches

Since my birthday's around the corner I'm having a sock hop birthday party with my friends. We're also celebrating another friend's birthday. So I gave them a super quick guide to squares and greasers. These were done super super quick and just to get the point across. I couldn't really go into detail. Oh well.

ROTBTD 60s Beach stuff

Wow I get bored sometimes. Here's the rest of those 60s beach drawings. I'll have to draw more. I kept the boys close to the time period. Maybe when Jack's hair gets wet it goes back to normal.

He's probably the only kid who came to the beach for research.

I'd like to think he's saying "Time to catch some waves AND some babes."
And here's a shot of everyone!
So we have Rapunzel the surfer. I'd like to think she's sheltered and doesn't know anyone at the beach but really wants to learn how to surf. Except her mom is super strict. Then there's Merida, leader of an all girls biker gang. But she doesn't think surfers are all that bad. She just doesn't want to get her jacket wet. And Hiccup came to the beach to research sea life but surfers kind of make that hard. And then there's Jack. His family owns a ski lodge and yet here he is, trying to catch waves and babes. And probably failing miserably.

Ladies and gentlemen the Big Four in a 60s teen beach film!

60s Teen Beach ROBTD

I've been rewatching some of my favorite Frankie Avalon films and sketched out some idea for a Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons concept of the characters in a 60s teen beach film. Then I decided to draw and share. Here are the ladies.
Merida as a biker girl. I really loved working on this.
Punzie as a surfer girl. Her hair was my favorite part of coloring this. The surf board my least favorite.
I've sketches out and started on the guys but since I'm going to take a break I figured I'd share what I've done so far. I've always wanted to write a book centered on surfing in the early 60s.
