Hopper Eh Whatever

I remember finishing this and not being super crazy about it but rather feeling the way the character does in the piece. Just kind of 'eh whatever' about it.

This is Hopper Croakington the II, who basically owns my heart in Ever After High.

And, well, I never draw fan art so here you go.

Merry Christmas Hands

FINALLY!

This piece is centered on Christ and Mary. There will be another piece for Easter but it won't be shown until then. It's Mary's hand reaching down to touch baby Jesus's hand. And it features a hecka lot of symbolism.

Because I don't want to be online on Christmas and want to instead be with my family I won't bother with explaining the symbolism and work that went into this but it took several weeks.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Sibyl and Westley Christmas

Why would she need a break when there's nothing on the tree in the first place?

IS THAT A BACKGROUND? WHAT?

Second Ice Princess Christmas Piece! Two more pieces to go.

I wanted to wear that outfit for Christmas but couldn't afford it. So I put it on her. Dat flower crown though.

Merry Christmas from the Aislin Twins

One of my many holiday art pieces (two more to go!). Here are the Aislin twins matching in Ugly Christmas Sweaters. I like to think Reeve is 10000000% down for matching his twin sister whereas she's... Not.

We get it Josephine, you prefer to be fashion forward.

There will be one more with Sibyl and Westley if I don't shoot myself with so many pieces first.

I really like drawing the twins together. Josie's so short in comparison!

Stylization 01

I keep finding pieces I didn't post on here. Some have been posted on my tumblr but just not on here, and they're not even sketches (because that I understand). So about the title, I have this goal to try different styles and pieces to give my portfolio a more varied look (as of right now it's mostly just pieces for Ice Princess so a looot of red heads with butterflies) (ironically this piece is still for Ice Princess).

My goal was to do this once a week. I have a private board on Pinterest with different styled art pieces I have to mimic in my own way. It's not supposed to be exact, just to get me thinking outside my usual spectrum of ideas. Anyway, I can't do it once a week because I have too much going on, so I'm going to try a goal of three times a month instead. This was from a few months ago so I figured to start off right we'll share this. It was simple but really fun to do. I'd like to do more pieces like this actually.

Whoops

I forgot to share this forever ago. ANYWAY, here's a print from who knows when that is supposed to be for the winter season. I'll have to add it to my society6 one of these days.

I remember it took me forever to get this ready because I wanted it to have a transparent background with the sparkles in the back but couldn't figure out how to do it on Sai. And, well, I figured that out this year.

100 Old Blue

A little fun fact about me: Frank Sinatra is my all time favorite singer (Buddy Holly is a veeeery close second).

December 10th marks his 100th birthday, and since I'm not musically talented I decided to draw something to commemorate. Except I had too many ideas.

Another fun fact: the last song Frank Sinatra ever sang was The Best Is Yet To Come in 1994. So I felt that was a good song to use for this piece. It features texture found online (I need to figure out where I got them asap) and text from PicMonkey.

The second piece is a drawing of Frank from his debut performance in February 2 1940 (according to LIFE magazine). The first is a photograph taken of him by photographer Herman Leonard (it should be noted I draw off of that photograph).

Ahh Frank Sinatra, still the best thing to come out of New Jersey. My favorite Frank Sinatra song is Moonlight Serenade, which also serves as my favorite song period. (I do know the original was by the Glenn Miller band and listened to it quite often.)

So here's to Old Blue. I was too young to appreciate your beautiful voice and music when you were around, but you've inspired my soul.

Meet Me Under the Mistletoe

fyi this has a transparent background
Piece inspired by the song by the same name by Never Shout Never.

Honey Lemon Christmas

I said I had more! This is also from last year. I just really love Honey Lemon.

Merry Christmas Darling

1 of several Christmas cards (let's see how that goes...).

This was actually from a year ago but I never got to actually color it and such. The guy was inspired by a super dapper man I saw in Jersey. I was so baffled to see such a well dressed man I couldn't stop staring. And he had a fan-friggn-tastic tweed jacket. (And not that it matters but he WAS black. It's almost like stereotypes are crap. OH WAIT.)

Happy Halloween 2015 (1)

First Halloween pic. I have another one in the works for later. Ironically I completely spaced on today being the day Back To the Future II takes place so it's purely coincidental that Reeve is dressed as Future Marty McFly. Or is it?

Costumes from left to right:

Reeve: Future Marty McFly because he would do anything 80s.

Sibyl: Black Swan because she has the tutu and it's easy. Otherwise her costume would be an obscure 60s reference or something no one knows (but Reeve would at least appreciate). She also went with it because her hair is a nice contrast.

Josephine: A princess. She's simple that way. Dem sleeves though.

These costumes don't have any deep meaning by the way. It's just what I thought of last minute at work to fit the characters.

And I figured today was a good day to share.

Color fun

Sometimes a warm up leads to inspiration for something more. I could so see this being a cover or something. Anyway, I love it.

Warm up

Just a warm up piece done of my roommate. Nothing too special. It doesn't even really look like her. I kind of gave up halfway through. I'm just not motivated to draw these days.

Fall Colors

That awkward moment when you're too lazy to finish a piece and just want to stick to the base colors. I didn't even bother with the background...

Banner Banner

Oh look! Another post in the same week! IT'S A MIRACLE!

Anyway I was in need of a new and much prettier banner for my interwebs things (Wattpad, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger, you get the gist). So here it is! I'm in a very fall mood. I wish I could go back to Philly just to experience a REAL autumn. Oh well. Here it is!

Story Fair Pieces

I haven't posted in a while and you can thank Tumblr for that. I'll try to be better about posting on both sites. Anyway, here are three pieces I did for the Story Fair hosted by Wattpad and featuring prominent Wattpad writers (and I guess me?). I wasn't sure which to do but finally went with the second one. And I'm pretty stinkin excited to participate and share some news on what to expect form me in the future. :)

The top two also mark the first time I've ever been able to digitally paint!! Holy cow! I'm pretty impressed with myself.

Anyway see you at the Story Fair!

Spanish Concept Art

I don't like sharing maybe 90% of my concept art for stories because I like to keep them close to my chest. Besides, stories tend to change and so does the art and design.  But the project I wrote for Camp NaNoWriMo a few months ago has been too fun and I started drawing pieces. I can't wait for this to be shared with the world. It's been a thrill to write.

So here they are! The three main characters from my WIP. I made two for one character because I wasn't satisfied with the first. I mostly post these on my tumblr account but here's a quick compilation.

top left: Spanish, top right: Spanish/Basque, bottom left: Puerto Rican/Spanish
actually pretty out-of-character for her
literally the best character. She's so sassy and fun to write.

that's a bun on her head. Mostly because I don't know if I want her to have short hair or not. Also terrible proportions.
Can't get her body type right...
Inspired by J.C. Leyendecker. And look! COLOR!
Detail
Texture!

I really like browns.

Sibyl Hair Tests

After looking at some pictures of pretty hairstyles and realizing it wouldn't work for my hair I wondered if Sibyl would be a good match for the hairstyle in mind. I'm not sure if I'm going to go with it though. I think I need to draw it out more and get a better feel for it. It's not easy to draw too. But here are some tests. The first is her hair color and style decided from the get go and the other two are the styles and colors I had in mind.

I don't know. Eventually she'll go back to just one color, but this might be fun for the story. And it's something different and definitely fits her personality. The thing about Sibyl is she's a character who's entire look and aesthetic speaks to her story arch. It says so much about her and helps define her as a character, so messing with it makes me itch.

I don't know. I'll think about it.

Oh By The Way...

I have a tumblr where I post art. I think that'll be where I post character art or some concept pieces. I don't know. It's mostly me trying to transfer stuff over while also trying to gather inspiration and post new stuff.

I don't know. But it does have a pretty theme.

Karou

This is an example of a warm up that went too far. Here's Karou from Daughter of Smoke & Bone. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT DO SO IMMEDIATELY.

Weird proportions are weird.

Winterspell

Couldn't decide which line art I liked better. Clara from the book Winterspell which is a remake of The Nutcracker. I didn't want to spoil anything so I changed a few things from the sketch. But here she is! I should draw Nicholas...

Po

Po from The Aurelian Archives by Courtney Grace Powers. I was reading the short story on her and just had to draw her. I should really draw them all, especially Hayden.

Spring Prints

I keep meaning to do prints centered on the seasons but never get around to it. I'm just not that inspired until AFTER the season. So the other day I started looking at spring fashion get inspired for the season. I don't know that I'll have a lot of spring prints but I haven't done any prints for some time so here goes nothing. I couldn't decide on the hair color for the girl. She was going to be black but ended up Native American? I don't know.

This is going to be a seasonal thing for sure. I want to make a picture with her for each season.
Can you tell I'm excited for spring?

These will be in the shop soon.

Hair Girl

So the story goes that one day I was sketching out shapes and trying to think of something for my niece's birthday when I sketched this. I was thinking of some antiques I saw and couldn't pick one hairstyle soooo here are a ton of hair styles. pretty quick but fun stuff.

Fun fact: The files were too big so I had to shrink them in half.

I want to do more. I had more sketches and ideas. But my hands hurt sooo I'm stopping with these. These will be in the shop soon.
