Selfie

I had this idea at like 3 am and decided to wait until morning to do it. And I'm quite happy with the result. Self portrait thanks to my broken phone camera!

Vintage Kick Butt Ladies

The top is Josie from Lady Killer, a comic I love, I was trying to force myself out of my block yesterday and this meh piece is the result. (But it worked!)

The bottom is Peggy. It was a warm up redo of this old piece that I wasn't satisfied with. I'm much happier with this one.

I feel like I went from being blocked to on a crazy art kick. I still have three more pieces to share.

Sleepy Belmont

I actually really like this!! Sleepy Trevor Belmont because I love his big fur cloak.

Captain Conrad

*Singing* All I ever post are warm up sketches!

I finally watched Kong: Skull Island and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. The scene when Captain Conrad is introduced might be my favorite due to lighting alone. The film is flawed, but very fun and a surprising visual feast. So here's a fun warm up I got a little carried away with. It's been too long since I last drew him.

Pine

Everyone, say hello to Pine, my OC from a writing project I’m currently working on when I shouldn’t be.
Yes, he is HEAVILY influenced by young Solas concepts but in my defense can you really blame me? They’re nothing alike in personality, and Pine has way more tattoos.
Pine is more likely to make you cookies and make you into a human blanket burrito and cries over The Notebook. He also has no memory of where he comes from or who he is. Also if you look closely you’ll notice some of his freckles are shaped like hearts.
Anyway, I almost never share my concepts but I’m trying to be better about that. Hope y’all like Pine!

Blooming

I don't want to think about how long this took to do. Another piece for my flower girls prints. I have to go back and change up the last one, but I'm quite fond of this one. Very cute and fun to do. Albeit a pain. But onward, on to the next one!

5 Years

2012
2017

I came across the top picture on my Facebook memories and thought how strange it was that I drew that, and that I improved so much. So I decided to redraw this scrapped character for my warm up. It's just a quick warm up sketch, nothing big at all, but then again, neither was that top picture.

Yet the results speak volumes. The improvement is clear.

When I drew that picture back in 2012 I was digging myself out of a hole of self doubt with my art. I wasn't sure I was an artist anymore, much less what KIND or STYLE of artist I was. I just decided to keep drawing. And below, five years later, is what happened with that.

So if you're struggling to believe in yourself, to trust that you're going to get better, this is my proof that you WILL. Keep drawing. Keep trying. Keep learning. Soon you'll find you've improved tremendously. It's taken me years to not only get where I am but to find a style that's all mine. You will too.

Don't give up.

Eavesdrop

Let the wind eavesdrop, I don't care
For all that we've got, don't let it go
Just hold me

Eavesdrop - The Civil Wars

I've had this song stuck in my head for a while and though it fitting for Solavellan. Also I needed a break drawing from my detailed flower girl piece. When I have more time I'll do a real Solavellan piece where I take my time and such. This was more practice than anything.

Poppies

Today's warm up sketch is a little drawing of a Union soldier with poppies for Memorial Day. One day I'll have to redo this as a full finished piece.

Paper Boats

First print for my new store! It isn't up YET because internet is evil but will be soon. I was actually inspired by a paper boat purse and how much I'm already missing Pennsylvania.

Took half an hour. Very simple but I'm very pleased with it. I tried using the pen texture style I did a while back with drawings of male celebs with my coloring. Also having a hard time adjusting to my new version of Sai.

But here's to a new start! I'm hoping to having a new one every week, but that's not a promise.

"Good Morning Mr. Peggy Carter."

This might be the prettiest picture I've ever drawn. No, really.

I'm never going to top this. Also this is as close to suggestive as I ever get. I still struggle with drawing kissing scenes. Anyway, Peggy in the morning with a cup of tea and an interesting top. I don't recall that in her wardrobe...

I chose red, blue, and purple for the color scheme because blue is Sousa's emotional color, red is her emotional color, and purple is the two of them combined.

Also can people just pay me to draw Peggy all the time?

Joanie Joanie Joanie

Joanie in jewel tones. I was trying out a different style to see how I feel about it. And I feel pretty good about it. Definitely would go about it a different way though. I was heavily inspired by Kevin Wada and Bob Peak.

I also went ahead and took down most if not all of the items in my stores. They're going to be revamped soon as I try to take my art in a whole new direction.

Sebastian Stan

Things not to do: Reference your own drawing for a portrait.

Quick Sebastian Stan done for a friend. Not a fan. Might come back and fix later.

My Mother Raised Me To Be Admired

Oh Joanie Joanie Joanie...

Done in about three hours. I'm not 100% in love with the text but I had a vision and went with it. The text aspect was done on Canva.

Joan Holloway is queen and the best thing about Mad Men, and I don't think my obsession for this show will ever die. I might make this into a print for my Redbubble and Society6 accounts. Might.

Here is it without the text and without a background:

Modern Superboy Warm Up

My life consists of warm ups.

Here is Superboy/Kon-El/Connor Kent a la Young Justice, where I first came to love him. I'm not as happy with the result as I am with the 90s one but it does the job.

Never Letting You Go...

City of Stars

Are you Shining Just for Me?

Not satisfied, but it was just meant to be a fun warm up.

Queen

I've drawn a lot of men lately, and they don't compare to the queen of my heart.

Quick drawing. I'm happy with the results though.

90s Superboy Color Test

I drew this earlier and posted it on my instagram but just had to redo it on Sai. I love Superboy, but I sure do love his 90s design. And after looking at a ton of beautiful pieces of him I just had to draw him myself. I also wanted to try something different with my coloring and I like the results. I think it has more flow and dimension this way.

Red Hood Warm Up

I've had this idea to sketch Red Hood/Jason Todd this way since I saw a man at the mall with this hairstyle. All I ever share is warm ups, but here's today's suuuuper quick warm up.

Self Portrait 2017

2017 self portrait inspired by the works of Rene Gruau and the face I make when waiting for my eyeliner to dry.
